Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read.  Just after our last blog went out on the 21st November, Donna was, briefly, on the Late News of BBC South Today . She was at West Sussex County Council’s Health and Social Care Committee all that day. In the morning they considered an appeal against the closure of the last Council care home which has very few residents left, but some of them are over 90 and have dementia. The closure went through on the Chair’s casting vote because the Reform Member of the Committee abstained.  This weekend the lights go on in several places locally, including Selsey (in both the High Street and East Beach Parade on Saturday, November 29th.) Mick, Val, Donna, Ali and I are helping the Friends of East Beach with their event. Chichester District Council’s Festive markets return to North Street and East Street in Chichester city centre on the 6th, 7th, 13th, and 14th December, with the Saturday markets running from 9am until 5pm...

Please remember to check on anyone you know who lives alone, because of the noticeably colder weather.  We wish to congratulate Matthew Davison who has been elected to Selsey Town Council with just over half the votes cast on a turnout of 24% (so securing a mandate from 13.6% of the total electorate in Selsey North.) We look forward to working with you and will be interested to see how Reform's national agenda translates into the day to day running of Selsey’s affairs, which is what the Town Council does. We did not stand because we didn't want to be complicit in costing Selsey around £7000 for only 17 months of tenure.  There is one week left until the lights go on in several places locally including Selsey (in both the High Street and East Beach Parade on Saturday, November 29th.)   There are two weeks until the lights go in several places locally including Selsey (in both the High Street and East Beach Parade on Saturday, November 29th.) Mick, Val, Donna and I are helping out at the Friends of East Beach. It's worth remembering elderly people as we mentioned last week, with an appeal in the John Lewis advert which ends with an appeal to download the song ‘Angel on the Tree’ by Sam Clegg, from iTunes or Amazon Music. Having successfully managed to get policy changed, I  proudly laid a wreath from Chichester District Council as did Steve, Val and Mick (for Donna because she laid one on behalf of West Sussex County Council.) Christmas is on the way, and there are only 3 weeks until the lights go in in Selsey in both the High Street and East Beach Parade on Saturday, November 29th.  For your diary, the following two weekends, December 6 & 7 and December 13 & 14, see the return of the Chichester Festive Market.  You may have noticed Christmas adverts appearing this week - I came across those from Sainsbury’s and John Lewis . They are both poignant, particularly the John Lewis one which ends with an appeal to download the song ‘Angel on the Tree’ by Sam Clegg, from iTunes or Amazon Music, to help support elderly people who will be alone over Xmas. Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. Christmas is on the way, and Selsey Town Council have given grants to ensure there are festive goings-on in both the High Street and East Beach Parade on Saturday, November 29th making Selsey the go to destination that day. Donna and I will be helping the Friends of East Beach: I am Santa’s ‘Bouncer’ again, managing the queue to see him - long running readers will know this is a bit of a busman’s holiday for me as I regularly control the lunch queue at school. Christmas is Donna's favourite time of year because it is the only time of the year when everything stops. I enjoy it as well but am also happy in the six weeks of summer.
