There are two weeks until the lights go in several places locally including Selsey (in both the High Street and East Beach Parade on Saturday, November 29th.) Mick, Val, Donna and I are helping out at the Friends of East Beach. It's worth remembering elderly people as we mentioned last week, with an appeal in the John Lewis advert which ends with an appeal to download the song ‘Angel on the Tree’ by Sam Clegg, from iTunes or Amazon Music. Please also spare a thought for wildlife in your garden too, as you can read here:

Last week of course included Remembrance Sunday. Having successfully managed to get policy changed, I  proudly laid a wreath from Chichester District Council as did Steve, Val and Mick (for Donna because she laid one on behalf of West Sussex County Council.) Later. Donna laid one on behalf of CDC at Sidlesham. I had treasury management training at CDC on Monday while Donna had a meeting at The Academy secondary school in Selsey. Mike, Ian and Andrew had STC’s Finance and Administration Group on Wednesday which looked at budget vs actuals so far this year. (Donna and I missed it due to other commitments.) Val and Donna had a Workshop at CDC about housing land supply on Wednesday and WSCC’s Appeals Panel met on Thursday, which meant Donna had a clash with CDC’s Housing, Communities, Culture and Sports Panel.

Next week, Val, Steve, Donna and I have Full Chichester District Council on Tuesday, Mick, Val, Ian, Mindy and Andrew have Selsey Town Council’s Planning Committee on Wednesday and Donna has West Sussex County Council’s Health and Social Care Committee on Friday.

You can watch meetings live: CDC and WSCC.

Regular readers will remember we decided not to contest the Selsey Town Council by election in the hope only one person would come forward and the approximate cost of £7000 to tax payers would be saved. One of the three candidates represents a national party, which has until recently been a proponent of lower taxes. Their candidate has criticised us for an increase in STC’s part of the Council Tax, which was necessary to keep the mobile amenity tip collections going when WSCC’s ruling group withdrew funding; At the time it included two WSCC Members who are now a part of this candidate's party. Another assertion we wish to challenge is that of abandoning Selsey, even though we are registered here and only contest local elections.
