Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. As a Half Term treat we have seen The Salt Path with Gillian Anderson. A very good film with a moving back story about a couple who like walking like ourselves.  On Wednesday Donna and Val had Chichester District Council’s Development, Planning and Infrastructure Panel. In the evening, Ali, Andrew, Ian, Donna and I had Selsey Town Council’s Finance and Administration Working Group. Next week Steve has Chichester District Council’s Standards Committee on Wednesday and Val General Licensing Committee on Thursday. On Friday Donna has West Sussex County Council’s Appeals Panel. You can watch council meetings live: CDC and WSCC A week ago, I was not expecting to mention Donna and I going to a garden party at Buckingham Palace again; however, your response was so positive, and we really appreciated it, so I thought I would share my favourite picture from our visit with you. I took it on the left bank of the lake which...

On Monday Donna had a West Sussex Working Group meeting about local government reorganisation while on Tuesday it was Full Chichester District Council for Val, Steve and our Green colleagues Sarah Sharp and Tim Young. The main business was the annual appointments to Committees. On Wednesday Donna had a Chichester District Council meeting about Selsey’s sea defences then in the evening we went to Sidlesham’s Annual Parish Meeting while Mick, Val, Ian and Andrew had Selsey Town Council’s Planning Committee. Next week Donna and Val have Chichester District Council’s Development, Planning and Infrastructure Panel on Wednesday.   Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. On Wednesday the whole team had the annual Full Selsey Town Council which included the election of Committees, etc for the next year.  Donna spoke at CDC Cabinet on Tuesday regarding changes to the Planning Committee and on Thursday several of us were at Chichester District Council for an evening reception. Next week’s main meeting is Full Chichester District Council for Val, Steve and our Green colleagues Sarah Sharp and Tim Young. Donna and I won’t be there because we are attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace. To her surprise, Donna's invitation came via West Sussex County Council -  I am her plus one. Whilst you have to be cautious with photos, we will try and post something out. You can watch council meetings live: CDC and WSCC .  Vintage motorcycle riders from across West Sussex will gather in Chichester city centre at the finish of an annual charity ride on Sunday 18 May. The Distin...

Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. Thank you too, if you took part in Selsey’s VE80 event yesterday, Thursday May 8, and said hello to any one of us: I particularly want to thank Maria from Asda who was working until 11pm and was sad she would miss it but wanted me to pass on her good wishes. Hopefully she saw the TV or V2 Radio coverage . We were touched by all your appreciation of the work Selsey Town Council put into organising the event, particularly the two senior Officers we thanked last week, Jenny Ririe the Deputy Clerk and Zoe Neal, the Development, Engagement and Communications Manager. I caught up with Zoe on Tuesday for a final technical run through. Zoe wrote a series of articles that appeared in the press to recognise the day: -. https://www.sussexexpress.co.uk/community/ve-day-80-honouring-the-heroes-of-rnli-selsey-lifeboat-5081548?fbclid=IwY2xjawJp65lleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHrvnR-Z-NSMvTAXpxgzYP-XANfIs4rGtKAXfu0uMA_VjDuJWjr_E-KEFLxQQ_aem_aTKX...

Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. Our thoughts continue to be with exam students whose written GCSE and A Level exams start very soon: my Year 11 Computer Science students sit their first paper on May 12th. I mentioned last week that Donna went to the daytime opening of the Coastal Partners exhibitions about sea defences in Selsey and I to the later one the next day. We also checked how well attended the last day was. Coastal Partners was really pleased to see how many residents attended the exhibition and the ideas and opinions shared. Donna had a Governance meeting at West Sussex County Council on Monday. On Tuesday I had an update on the Unitary authority options from the CEO of Chichester District Council, Diane Shepherd. The final choice will have a transition ‘shadow’ year from when it is elected in 2027 before fully taking over from CDC and West Sussex County Council in 2028. Although maintaining local accountability is important, ensuring it is ...
