Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read.

As a Half Term treat we have seen The Salt Path with Gillian Anderson. A very good film with a moving back story about a couple who like walking like ourselves.

On Wednesday Donna and Val had Chichester District Council’s Development, Planning and Infrastructure Panel. In the evening, Ali, Andrew, Ian, Donna and I had Selsey Town Council’s Finance and Administration Working Group. Next week Steve has Chichester District Council’s Standards Committee on Wednesday and Val General Licensing Committee on Thursday. On Friday Donna has West Sussex County Council’s Appeals Panel. You can watch council meetings live: CDC and WSCC

A week ago, I was not expecting to mention Donna and I going to a garden party at Buckingham Palace again; however, your response was so positive, and we really appreciated it, so I thought I would share my favourite picture from our visit with you. I took it on the left bank of the lake which is near the bottom of the gardens. What impressed us most was how quiet, peaceful and idyllic they are despite being in the centre of London, although for understandable reasons this Royal gem is, sadly, not seen by many.  Kingsley Vale near Lavant however is seen by many and has been placed fifth in England’s hidden gems, based on their TripAdvisor rating, by Millets.

Chichester District Council’s ‘Energy Saving Plan Builder’ website enables residents to explore and customise the energy efficiency improvements that could be most appropriate for their home and budget. The personalised plan provides estimated costs and savings for each measure, which residents can use as a starting point before seeking professional advice because the Plan Builder tool creates a summary of energy improvement ideas.

The ‘Warm Homes: Local Grant’, will also soon be available in our area to help people access funding to install energy efficiency and renewable energy measures in their homes. Eligible residents will be able to apply to this scheme for free insulation, solar panels or energy-efficient heating systems, regardless of the type of heating they use. There are several ways in which you could be eligible for this funding — for example, you may be eligible due to your income or your health circumstances.

As part of the scheme, private landlords will be able to access funding for improvements to their rental properties regardless of how many they own, which will help increase the number of private rental properties being improved. Tenants won’t need to contribute to the cost of this work. Chichester District Council will be delivering the grant in partnership with Warmer Homes.

In case you missed it, West Sussex County Council have given notice that one of Selsey’s principle roads, West Street, will be closed from June 19th for 2 - 5 days from 09:30 - 15:30 while Openreach carry out work.

Finally: -

As always, from the whole Team, stay safe.
