Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. Christmas is on the way, and Selsey Town Council have given grants to ensure there are festive goings-on in both the High Street and East Beach Parade on Saturday, November 29th making Selsey the go to destination that day. Donna and I will be helping the Friends of East Beach: I am Santa’s ‘Bouncer’ again, managing the queue to see him - long running readers will know this is a bit of a busman’s holiday for me as I regularly control the lunch queue at school. Christmas is Donna's favourite time of year because it is the only time of the year when everything stops. I enjoy it as well but am also happy in the six weeks of summer. If, like me, you noticed that general contentment changes depending on your stage in life, this article might ring true for you: - https://share.google/TWQsXccwCMmfke3Yx    There has been some debate about whether next May’s West Sussex County Council elections should be postponed or no...

Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. Around this time each year, there can be a debate as to whether to feed birds in your garden or not. I know several people with bird feeders and always thought peanuts were a good choice, but apparently the RSPB are warning that is not always the case: - https://share.google/v2Mfh5lSgZbxttkof    As I am on Half Term we ‘upped’ our informal meetings this week. I also had CDC’s Corporate Governance and Audit Committee on Monday which looked at auditing, debt recovery strategic risk, developer contributions and the key financial principles underpinning CDC’s financial management. I managed to get an Opposition Member added to the interview panel for an extra independent, non-voting Member of the Committee who, we hope, will bring additional experience of how local government finance works. Meanwhile Donna, on Wednesday, had CDC’s Grants and Concessions Panel which considered seven applications for discretionary ra...

Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. We are continuing with last week’s rural feel (if you missed it, look at our blog website ) by sharing information on picking your own pumpkin for Halloween and an article about a large number of pigs that can currently be seen in the New Forest. https://sussexexclusive.com/pyo-pumpkins-in-sussex/   https://share.google/qKX1rGpEApFjjv72f   The Rural Services Network is pleased with the response to their Delivering for All survey but feel the South/South East is currently under-represented in the results, which will directly shape evidence to Government, MPs and Select Committees to help secure fairer funding, better services, and stronger recognition for rural areas. The survey takes around 8–10 minutes to complete. A consultation on two Local Nature Recovery Strategies for West Sussex and for East Sussex and Brighton & Hove has been launched. Developed over the past 2 years with initial feedback ...

Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. We mentioned last week that Sussex, and in particular our area, is one of the more scenic places to live in the UK, and shared articles about Kingsley Vale and the Maeden villages. It seems appropriate this week to share an article about somewhere further away that is likened to Bath in terms of its historic charm. We have visited it several times because my oldest brother lives nearby. Once we even went up there to see Donna’s favourite band, G4, perform comparatively nearby just outside Chesterfield. Although you may not have visited this town yourself yet, you will have drunk its spring’s water, which you can decant for free if you visit: - https://share.google/IO2oKECw0tOzLNFgk   Donna has been rather under the weather, so on Monday, just I had Chichester District Council’s Budget Review Group. On Wednesday it was a similar meeting with Selsey Town Council’s Finance and Administration Group. This coming w...
