Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read.

We mentioned last week that Sussex, and in particular our area, is one of the more scenic places to live in the UK, and shared articles about Kingsley Vale and the Maeden villages. It seems appropriate this week to share an article about somewhere further away that is likened to Bath in terms of its historic charm. We have visited it several times because my oldest brother lives nearby. Once we even went up there to see Donna’s favourite band, G4, perform comparatively nearby just outside Chesterfield. Although you may not have visited this town yourself yet, you will have drunk its spring’s water, which you can decant for free if you visit: -

Donna has been rather under the weather, so on Monday, just I had Chichester District Council’s Budget Review Group. On Wednesday it was a similar meeting with Selsey Town Council’s Finance and Administration Group.

This coming week Mindy, Ian, Mick Val and Andrew have Selsey Town Council’s Planning Committee on Wednesday evening. It is preceded at 7pm by a short Extraordinary Full Council Meeting. Earlier that day, it will be CDC Planning for Donna and Val

You can watch meetings live: CDC and WSCC.

The Cross Market & More Artisan Market will return to Chichester city centre on Sunday 12 October, taking place between 10am and 4pm in North Street and East Street. Delivered by Chichester District Council, this popular event has welcomed thousands of visitors since it was first launched in 2021, offering an innovative and quality market for all tastes. This street market is an opportunity for local artisan creatives, designers and makers to showcase their work alongside delicious street food and drink vendors through the day. Visitors will be able to browse a variety of unique products, from textiles and jewellery to homemade prints, arts and crafts, and much more.

The day also offers live entertainment from local musicians, including a session from Jam Open Mic artists, followed by Eleanor & Fin, Cristian Herrera, and Ben Hayfield. People can find out more about the market, as well as other events across the district by visiting CDC’s dedicated events and markets Facebook page or by visiting their What’s On page.

The Sloe Fair is here again so the Northgate car park in Chichester will be temporarily closing for three days from 6am on Saturday 18 October 2025 until 12 noon on Tuesday 21 October 2025. The Sloe Fair is organised by The Showman’s Guild and can be traced back through history to the reign of King Henry the First who passed a royal charter to enable the fair to take place.

As always, from the whole Team, stay safe.
