Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read.

Last week we shared an article about Iceland and their plans to drill into an active volcano to tap into a free source of geothermal energy. It turns out Ali went there in 2006, before the volcano erupted in 2010. She said:

“Iceland is truly incredible. I've been there. It's stunning. It already has hot thermal springs I've been in. Warm and wonderful. Plus the Blue Lagoon James Bond was filmed in. Reykjaböð Hot Springs

I'd live there or wish I could visit regularly. I even climbed the volcano before it erupted in 2010.”

Since our last post, another Selsey resident, Phil Way, posted something he is happy for us to share. Twenty-two Veterans succumb to their struggles every single day, so one of these organisations may well save someone’s life:

Donna and I were in Arundel last Monday for the Mass of Episcopal Ordination of Father Stephen Wei-Jon Wang, the new Catholic Bishop of Arundel and Brighton. On Tuesday we had a tour of the anaerobic food waste processing facility near Crawley, which processes 55,000 tonnes of food waste annually:

On Wednesday Donna had CDC’s Grants & Concessions Panel which included several applications for rate relief and some restricted concessionary applications. In the afternoon Donna was at County Hall for a Governance briefing. I used the time to film a future episode of 60 from Selsey. This coming week the second of five episodes relating to flood risk, Squeezing the Sponge, will be posted. If you missed it, last week’s Tim’s Travels was the first of two filmed in Bath:

Interestingly, two of the places that have been in the Travels were recently featured by BBC weather. See if you can spot them before clicking on our Tim’s Travels to see if you were correct:

Bath is lovely, as I am sure many of you know from personal experience. We have some great places in Sussex too. LNER have identified three towns as being particularly suitable for a quiet staycation:

On Thursday afternoon I had a briefing from the Senior Leadership Team at CDC.

As Arundel keeps popping up this week, here are some tried and tested walks along the South Downs Way that include it:

As always, from the whole Team, stay safe.
