Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read.

There is growing excitement at school about the World Cup and relief for exam students that England’s initial fixtures don’t clash with any of their exams. The A Level and GCSE examinations start to finish soon, but then Years 12 and 10 have mocks whilst the exam desks are still set up. There are high hopes England will top their group and go on to greater success,

During the tournament, if you become concerned by anything you witness, you can visit West Sussex County Council's report problems in your area webpage. Here you can report incidents of hate crime or any situation which may cause unrest or raise fear or anxiety in the community.

In addition, the Council’s WORTH Services team is supporting Sussex Police with visits to people identified as being at the highest risk of domestic abuse. Operation Hope involves proactive visits to people to make sure they are safe and to offer safeguarding advice or support. The county council helps with signposting people towards support services outside of the police and can help people who may feel less comfortable speaking to police officers.

On Tuesday, Steve had Chichester District Council’s Standards Committee which included consideration of a minor change to the wording of one sentence in the constitution and the annual report from the Monitoring Officer on her investigation into complaints about Members. On Wednesday, Andrew, Steve, Ian and Ali had Selsey Town Council’s Finance & Administration Group which focussed on several things including Budget vs Actual income and expenditure to date this financial year.

On Wednesday, Donna and Val have Chichester District Council’s Planning Committee which includes a Housing Delivery Statement Report, applications from Loxwood and Wisborough Green and the monthly schedule updating the position with regard to current planning appeals, litigation and recent planning policy publications or pronouncements. In the evening, Mick, Val, Andrew and Ian have Selsey Town Council’s Planning Committee.

The Guardian recently identified five walks along the King Charles III Coastal Path which include one that takes in parts of our District, as you can read here; -

Some closing good news is that round 80% of households in our District are using the new food waste collection which compares favourably with other areas.

As always, from the whole Team, stay safe.
