This week, whilst Donna was focused on County matters, I caught up with the staff in Selsey Town Hall to make sure they are managing with the extra pressures of ongoing vacancies during the holiday season. Donna and I also checked reports of car park incursions, which proved to be ill-founded, while Mick and Val helped with the RNLI Selsey Lifeboat Week fireworks. This coming week is a busy one: on Tuesday I have an update on Local Government Reform from the CEO of Chichester District Council, then with Curt and Ian, have a Selsey Town Council website meeting because the content editing package is contracted through CDC, so we need to start planning and preparing for when they no longer exist. Also on Tuesday Ali, Ian, Andrew, Donna and I have a Personnel Committee meeting, then in the evening there's an Extraordinary Full Chichester District Council meeting to adopt the revised Local Plan. If you are a newer reader, this is where CDC plans to allow housing developments to be built to meet its government target. On Thursday, Ian and Ali will join me, when I return from the GCSE results at school, for our fortnightly catch up with Selsey Town Council's Senior Team.

You can watch meetings live: CDC and WSCC.

A couple of major Selsey Town Council projects are drawing to a close. You may have seen the press release about the refurbished Manor Green Park. There are two new play areas themed on the Selsey Tram and a new bark park for four-legged friends.#

How content with your ‘success’ are you? There is always something we would like or wish for but some people seem happier with their lot than others and, yes, age can be a factor too because we generally become more prosperous as the years go by: -

If you are planning on going away be aware of fake travel agents trying to sell you a deal by text or social media, booking verification scams where scammers pretend to be hotels and ask for payment information to verify bookings, and cancellation refund scams where fraudsters impersonate travel companies, or your bank, and claim your flight or holiday has been cancelled offering to help you get a refund.

As we know, Food banks depend on generous donations from the local community, yet often they receive a surplus of some items and not enough of others. That’s where a new free app, BanktheFood, comes in by connecting donors with food banks in real-time, letting shoppers know exactly what’s needed as they shop.

The Novium Museum is seeking volunteers to get involved in its major new project, ChichestHER by helping to uncover stories, identify objects, and preserve them for future generations. There is a coffee afternoon at The Novium on Wednesday 10th September at 1.30pm, where you can ask questions and register interest.

As always, from the whole Team, stay safe.
