Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. There is a hot weather warning in place until at least Tuesday, 1st July, so keep cool, drink plenty of cool drinks and check the people (and pets) you know are OK.
On Monday, Donna and I had Chichester District Council’s Budget Review Group followed by Planning training for parish councils which District councillors attended. On Tuesday Donna and I had Chichester District Council’s Regeneration and Growth Board. Following CDC’s aerating the pond at East Beach, on Monday the contractors began to move the fish to a more suitable home. It is easy to forget that East Beach Pond and the neighbouring East Beach Car Park are an integral part of Selsey’s surface water flood defences and are actually first and foremost a drain and a basin to contain the excess surface water.
Next week Donna and Steve have Chichester District Council’s Overview & Scrutiny Committee on Tuesday. Meanwhile, there is an Extraordinary Selsey Town Council Meeting on Wednesday. The scheduled Planning Committee Meeting for Val, Mick, Ian, Andrew and Gareth follows at 7.30pm. You can watch council meetings live: CDC and WSCC
Should all Over-60s in the UK get free bus travel, as others in different locations receive it? A petition closes today, Friday, asking Parliament to debate this. Such a move would have to be paid for somehow, but could have environmental and social benefits as you can read here: -
