This week Val had Chichester District Council’s Development Planning and Infrastructure Panel on Wednesday. On Tuesday I Chaired Selsey Town Council’s Personnel Committee and was joined by Donna and Ian. Our main focus was considering the future staffing needs of the Council. A Full-time admin job will be advertised soon, and a part-time one that can be fitted in during the school day. On Wednesday I had a One to One with Selsey’s Town Clerk then Ali, Ian, Val and Mick had Selsey Town Council’s Planning Committee. Next week, Donna and Val have Chichester District Council’s Planning Committee on Wednesday, while Ian and I have our fortnightly Management Meeting with Selsey Town Council’s Senior Officers on Thursday. Donna also has the Chichester Harbour Conservancy on Monday, where she is one of West Sussex County Council's representatives.
You can watch council meetings live: CDC and WSCC.
In April the Selsey Centre is hosting three drop-in exhibitions about the options for possible new sea defences. The three events will provide an opportunity to learn about the new coastal scheme, share your thoughts, and meet the project team. They are on Thursday 24th April (10 - 2pm,) Friday 25th April (2 - 7pm) and Saturday 26th April (10 - 2pm.)
Last year Selsey Town Council staged a wonderful D-day commemoration which is why, at the last Full Selsey Town Council, we approved funds for this year's VE80 commemoration. STC's social media has posted some details:
“Save the Date & Join Selsey’s VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations!
Mark your diaries and, more importantly, come along to East Beach Green on the evening of Thursday 8 May for a special commemoration of VE Day 80!
Bring your own fish & chip supper from your favourite Selsey chippy – the only meal not rationed during WWII! Watch an incredible display & sail past by RNLI Selsey Lifeboat, Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team, and Selsey Fishermen – our home front’s answer to a flypast! Sing along with the Chichester City Band as we join in community songs.
Attend Selsey’s civic ceremony and hear personal stories of life and events on the home front during WWII. Witness the grand finale – the lighting of the beacon, a symbol of remembrance and unity.
Come for the whole evening or just part of it – but don’t miss this chance to honour VE Day 80 together. Be there, be part of it!“
