Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. In particular thank you to the resident who asked for more detail about what is considered in our various meetings. This week Donna had a sensitive case meeting on Tuesday so I popped into Selsey Town Hall to welcome June, the Town Council’s new Finance officer. On Wednesday Ian, Mick and Val had Selsey Town Council’s Planning committee, On Thursday Ali, Ian, Donna and I had our fortnightly catch up with Selsey Town Council’s Senior Team. Since joining STC's Personnel Committee, Ali has been keen to fully play her part and her presence is always appreciated. Councillors are a little bit like a board of directors: our authority is collective and our role is to set direction while officers research possibilities, carry out our decisions and keep things running on a day to day basis. n addition to operational pressures we looked at progress with over twenty other matters including the Warner’s Yard toilets refurbishm...

Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. I had a minor operation on Monday so unfortunately missed both Chichester District Council’s Corporate Governance and Audit Committee that day and Full Council on Tuesday. Donna stayed with me and Steve had a work imperative but Val was joined by our two Green colleagues, Sarah Sharp and Tim Young. Donna and Val had CDC’s Development Planning and Infrastructure Panel on Wednesday morning while Ali, Ian, Gareth, Curt, Mike and Andrew had Full Selsey Town Council in the evening. Today, Friday, Donna had Full West Sussex County Council. There are fewer meetings now the holidays have begun but an increase in casework. You can watch meetings live: CDC and WSCC . We played Monopoly a lot when I grew up because there were fewer things to do: it was a time when many people slowly turned to colour television to watch one of the two then three channels available before we were gripped by excitement when there was a fourt...

Welcome to this week’s blog - as always, thanks for having a read. Donna and Val had Chichester District Council’s Planning Committee on Wednesday, while on Thursday Mike, Ali, Ian, Andrew, Donna and I had Selsey Town Council’s Finance & Administration Working Group before Ali joined Ian, Andrew, Donna and I for her first Personnel Committee meeting. She made some very good points which showed how well, since her recent appointment, she has updated herself. Next  week I have a minor operation on Monday so will unfortunately miss CDC’s Corporate Governance and Audit Committee and probably Full CDC on Tuesday. Donna, Steve and Val will be there. I hope to join the rest of the team on Wednesday for Full STC. Unfortunately for Donna this is the second year a Council meeting has fallen on the evening of her birthday. You can watch meetings live: CDC and WSCC . On Tuesday, 15th July, CDC is inviting residents to attend its first free Men’s Health Fair at Petworth Park Sports in Pe...

The next day, Wednesday we all had an Extraordinary Selsey Town Council Meeting before Val, Mick, Ian, and Andrew had its Planning Committee. It's been a week of briefings, meetings and training for Donna. Next week she and Val have CDC’s Planning Committee on Wednesday, while on Thursday there is a Members’ update on Local Government Reform. In the evening Mike, Ali, Ian, Andrew, Donna and I have Selsey Town Council’s Finance & Administration Working Group before Ali joins Ian, Andrew, Donna and I for her first STC Personnel Committee Meeting. Since being appointed a couple of weeks ago she has been keen to update herself and joined Ian and I for an online meeting with the Deputy Clerk last week. You can watch meetings live: CDC and WSCC . Chichester District Council’s popular Summer Street Party and Cross Market ...
